Partnerships with Purpose

Embedded giving is not a new concept, although it may be an unfamiliar term. It’s most easily illustrated by the buy-one-give-one model that Toms used to be famous for, and companies like Bombas and Warby Parker have adopted, in which when a customer makes a purchase, a donation of a similar product is made to someone in need.

For the last several years, we’ve actually been fortunate enough to be one of Bombas’ donation recipients, allowing us to distribute literally thousands of high quality socks to our tenants and other homeless service providers here in Syracuse.

As of late, we have a more localized example to share.

A few months ago John LaCourt, a budding real estate professional, reached out to us with a unique proposal. While we’re on very different ends of the housing services spectrum, John has  the vision and intention for his work to help support both his family and the community. After spending some time volunteering with us and getting to know our work, this partnership model evolved.

Simply put, when appropriate John shares a little about A Tiny Home for Good with his current and prospective clients along with the fact that he donates a sizable portion of his profit from each house sale to our work. The benefit of this is threefold;

  • It acts as a unique social selling proposition to help John stand out among real estate professionals.

  • It expands awareness of A Tiny Home for Good’s work in the community.

  • It provides direct support towards the larger goal of ending homelessness in Syracuse.

In turn, we help celebrate and encourage this partnership by sending acknowledgements to his clients. Everybody wins. It’s a cycle of support that we hope will gain momentum.

Truthfully, this partnership is in its infancy, but the concept in action is a powerful one. Businesses that are intentional about providing quality service/products while aligning with a larger purpose in the community have so much potential to impact the social good.

We’re honored to be partnering with John in such a thoughtful way. If you’re looking to buy or sell a home, you can find him here. And if you’re interested in discussing a similar kind of partnership, we would love to talk to you. You can send us a note here.
